Weekend Away - The Lake District - 23rd to 25th September

This year’s group totalled 42 in the usual varied assortment of vintage, prewar and classic vehicles. Suitably refreshed, the first leg of the journey of 30 miles commenced, via the Yorkshire Dales and along the scenic A65 - a pleasant way to access the Lakes. Lunch was at the Falls Café, adjacent to the Ingleton Waterfall Trail. A reserved parking area had been arranged and the cars looked resplendent, parked together in this very scenic location.

Following lunch the afternoon run to our destination was straightforward, with the dual carriageway section of the A590 providing quick access into the Lake District, and so everyone arrived in good time at the Burnside Hotel, Bowness, our base for the weekend. The Hotel is in a superb location close to the steamer pier and the bustling Bowness centre, and a number of the group stretched their legs, whilst the more energetic used the Hotel pool. The Pub in the grounds was very popular! The evening meal, which was a hearty affair, was preceded by the serving of canapes during pre meal drinks - a posh Hotel indeed!
