6th July Annual BBQ and Concours Event
The Report ...
In view of the diabolical weather during the day, it was quite a surprise that over 60 members and guest arrived at the Cheadle Hulme Gove Park Rugby Club for the annual MHVC BBQ.
15 members braved the elements and brought their cars along for Concours where there were many trophies to be awarded.
Awards were given for the following:-
Pre War Closed saloon – Kevin Jones – 1925 Humber
Pre-War Open – Ann Whithead – 1934 Wolseley Tickford Special
Post War Closed Saloon – Stuart Lomas – 1954 Riley RME
Post War Open – Geoff Hulme – 1973 MGB
Post War Saloon – Geoff Howard – 1965 Rover P5
The Landlords (Lady's) choice was judged by Carole who organised the BBQ and this was won By John French in his Riley Lynx
Geoff Hulme`s award to the member who has done the most for the club during the year. This was handed to Pat Jeater by last years winner Roy Summerscales. Roy decided to repeat his speech in each room as the membership were split between the bar area and the eating area, much to the amusement of those present.
As you would expect with the inclement weather, a number of members came without their cars. It was good to see John Gardiner who brought along photographs of his 1928 Austin 12 Truck just to show that it was not a figment of his imagination. Pleased to see Bernard Herd who has not been experiencing the best of health recently all the way from Ashbourne...cont->
